ScienceREACH
ScienceREACH (Resources Enhancing Academic and Career Hallmarks) is a partnership of the Advanced Materials Research Institute at the University of New Orleans and CIS New Orleans. Begun in 2007, this program focuses on working with public middle school and high school students to improve their interest and success in pursuing careers in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields. Participants gain significant exposure to numerous career fields they might otherwise not have considered. Through coordinated services provided by their CIS site coordinator and the ScienceREACH coordinator, students receive assistance in pursuing internships, experiential learning opportunities, ACT/SAT test prep assistance, college application preparation, college campus tours and interviewing skills. Afterschool and out-of-school activities include club activities such as rocketry and math Olympics.
