Teen Parenting Program
Teenagers who become parents have special challenges in completing their high school education. CIS site coordinators serve these students by connecting the specialized services our community provides to teen parents. We address the teens' needs as students, and the teens' needs as parents.
We assist both the providers and the student with such critical steps as qualification for services, scheduling, follow-up and support. These services range from pre- and post-natal health care, child development education, early literacy materials and training to childcare options. We also layer on the supports that the teenager needs in concluding their academic education, such as pairing them with a tutor, a mentor, and with peer support groups. We also work to involve both parents in all aspects of the baby's life.
Communities In Schools provides integrated student support services to help young people learn, stay in school, succeed and be prepared for life. The Teen Parenting Program helps public school students who are parents themselves to graduate on time.
