Favorite thing about New Orleans: the community feeling and pride felt by New Orleans residents
Why did you want to be part of the CIS team?
I believe strongly in the mission of Communities In Schools. The goals and values of the organization are in line with my own as a school based social worker. Being a safe, supportive, and consistent presence in a child's life increases their chance of success in the future. I love being part of a strong team who all strive to support the children in the community and understand the importance of the Communities In Schools model.
What part of your job are you most excited about doing for this school year?
I am most excited about working with both the Fischer Accelerated Academy students as well as their families. I enjoy linking families to needed resources which helps improve the well being of the student both at school and in their home environment. Matching the basic needs of the community allows growth and unites strong bonds, which is a great joy to me both personally and professionally.
Who was your role model in your youth and what did you admire about them?
My role model growing up was my father. My father, a child psychologist, mentored me in the special needs of the child and adolescent population. My father modeled patience, empathy, and encouragement towards his clients. Through the help of my father I have become a better social worker.
