The official mascot of Reading Is Fundamental, Riffington, visited Communities In Schools of Greater New Orleans this past week. Together they went to visit the Macy*s stores in southern Louisiana. Riffington was very busy thanking the associates and customers for such a successful campaign. Riffington was able to meet the top seller for the campaign at the Mall of Louisiana, a pre-K student that had read 100 books this summer, and even a group of middle school students that were excited about reading every day!
A portion of the $3 coupon that was sold at Macy*s during the month of July will go towards books for children in the southern Louisiana area. Communities In Schools of Greater New Orleans hosts various book giveaway events in their schools throughout the year. Please contact Christina Caryl, the Volunteer Coordinator, (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you are interested in volunteering at one of these events. Without the great support of Macy*s, Communities In Schools and Reading Is Fundamental would not be able to give away thousands of books to their students in the New Orleans community. Feel free to check out our pictures of Riffington's visit on our Facebook page!
