Communities In Schools AmeriCorps Members celebrated MLK Day by volunteering for the 3rd annual New Orleans Hornets MVP (Most Valuable Pupil) game against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Hornet's MVP program serves as a reward to 5th-8th grade Recovery School District and New Orleans Public School students, who have excelled academically. The AmeriCorps members helped the day run smoothly by guiding students and chaperones through the arena. Although the Hornets lost to the Portland Trail Blazers, the AmeriCorps members still had a blast cheering and socializing with the students.
