SERVICE DELIVERY INFORMATION FOR THE 2010-11 SCHOOL YEAR WILL BE POSTED APPROXIMATELY AUGUST 1, 2011

For the 2009-10 school year through the first semester:

  • CIS provided prevention services in the fall and spring semesters, serving more than 4500 students in 7 schools

  • CIS has coordinated and integrated student support intervention services for 850 students

  • CIS has initiated, connected, or supported the work of 79 different service providers and in-kind donors to 14 schools

  • CIS is partnering with the internationally known child sponsorship organization, Children, Incorporated, and has received more than $10,000 for 125 children in 4 schools to help them with basic needs such as food, clothing and school uniforms.

  • CIS was one of a handful of community-based organizations working in all three types of public school management structures in New Orleans: Recovery School District operated schools, New Orleans Public School board operated schools, and independent public charter schools

  • CIS partnered with the ELCA Lutheran Youth Gathering in July when 37,000 high school youth and adults traveled to New Orleans for their triennial convention. All participants spent 4-6 hours in community service. For CIS, the gathering resulted in the creation of 13,550 school kits, which the youth asked to be given to every K-3 grader in all 58 public schools. This gift to the Champs Choice Store is valued at more than $275,000.

  • CIS is providing community leadership as its staff members are serving on six task forces or advisory committees
