Impact on Student Success

At any school, CIS New Orleans represents only a part of the school's overall efforts to improve student's academic achievement. Keeping this in mind, CIS New Orleans tracks student trends in attendance, behavior and academic achievement to guide its priorities as an active, accountable member of the student support services team at its schools. CIS New Orleans documents statistics consistent with other CIS affiliates who have implemented the comprehensive CIS Model in other urban communities. Each activity, whether for the school-wide population or for individual students, is focused on student achievement, thereby reducing the dropout rate, increasing graduation rates. We surround students with the five basics so that each will learn, stay in school, and be prepared for life.
2010-2011 Momentum Report/ Preliminary as of July 1, 2011 Our quantitative analysis is called the Momentum Report, a concept borrowed from a leading international foundation.
Students on our case list: 2145
Students receiving a documented CIS Service: 1962
Students Intensively case managed: 796
These 796 students established 1529 goals related to their attendance, their behavior, their attitude and/or their course performance. We are analyzing more than 30,000 pieces of data to discern how many met their goals.
We do know this...of the students referred to CIS by school administrators, teachers, coaches, librarians, parents and the students themselves, only 15 dropped out of school. We look forward to sharing with you more of the data in early August.
